MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm warning for 10 states and KL

Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are forecast for 10 states and Kuala Lumpur until 8 pm tonight.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for 10 states and the federal territory of Kuala Lumpur, effective until 8 pm tonight.

The alert covers thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds across multiple regions in Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak, and Sabah.

In the north, affected areas include Perlis and parts of Kedah such as Kubang Pasu, Baling, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu, as well as the districts of North Seberang Perai, Central Seberang Perai, and South Seberang Perai in Penang.

The warning extends to numerous districts in Perak, including Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang, and Muallim.

Several areas in Terengganu and Pahang are also on alert, namely Besut, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, and Dungun in Terengganu, and Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Pekan, and Rompin in Pahang.

In the central and southern regions, the warning involves Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, and Petaling in Selangor, alongside Mersing, Kulai, and Kota Tinggi in Johor.

For Sarawak, the alert covers Betong (Saratok and Kabong), Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit (Belaga), Miri (Beluru, Telang Usan, and Marudi), and Limbang.

In Sabah, the affected divisions are the Interior (Tambunan) and West Coast, specifically Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, and Tuaran.
