MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm warning for KL and five states

Thunderstorms with heavy rain and strong winds forecast for Kuala Lumpur, Kedah, Perak, Selangor, Johor and parts of Sabah until 6 pm today

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a thunderstorm warning for the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and five states until 6 pm today.

In a statement, MetMalaysia said thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected in parts of Kedah and Perak.

The affected areas in Kedah are Kulim and Bandar Baharu, while in Perak they are Kerian, Larut, Matang dan Selama, and Kuala Kangsar.

The same warning has been issued for several districts in Selangor and Johor.

In Selangor, the alert covers Klang, Gombak, Petaling and Hulu Langat.

In Johor, the affected areas are Batu Pahat, Pontian, Kulai and Johor Bahru.

The warning also extends to multiple regions within the state of Sabah.

Affected areas include the Interior districts of Tenom, Beaufort, Nabawan, Keningau and Tambunan.

The West Coast districts of Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Ranau are also included.

The alert covers Tawau district in Tawau, and Tongod and Telupid in the Sandakan division.
