• A powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck off Mexico's southern coast on Friday.
• It triggered a tsunami warning, which has since been lifted, and caused buildings to shake across neighbouring Guatemala and El Salvador.
• The seismic event, centred near the Mexican city of Puerto Madero in Chiapas, occurred at a notably shallow depth of just 10 km (6 miles), according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
• Following the initial tremor, the U.S. Tsunami Warning System issued a specific tsunami threat for the wider region.
• Reuters witnesses reported buildings swaying distinctly in Guatemala City, with the significant tremor also felt strongly in El Salvador.
