Malaysia’s dining scene is once again in the spotlight as the MICHELIN Guide returns with its 2026 edition, honouring the country’s most exceptional chefs, kitchens, and culinary institutions. From degustation menus to heirloom family recipes that have stood the test of time, the latest list celebrates the full spectrum of Malaysian gastronomy in all its flavour and finesse.
For those new to the story, the MICHELIN Guide has an unexpectedly practical origin. Created by the same French company best known for producing tyres, the very first edition was published in 1900 to encourage motorists to travel more and, by extension, use more tyres.
What began as a small handbook of maps, car repair shops, and dining recommendations soon evolved into one of the world’s most prestigious authorities on food. The familiar star system, introduced in 1936, remains the global standard for culinary excellence today.
After making its Malaysian debut in 2022, the guide has become a much-anticipated annual event for both foodies and industry insiders. This year’s edition once again highlights the twin culinary powerhouses of Kuala Lumpur and Penang, recognising the chefs and restaurants that continue to define, elevate, and reimagine Malaysian dining.
MICHELIN Guide Malaysia 2026: Complete List of MICHELIN-starred restaurants
The MICHELIN Guide Malaysia 2026 once again shines a light on the nation’s thriving culinary landscape, honouring excellence across four key categories: MICHELIN Star, Bib Gourmand, Selected, and Special Awards. Each distinction celebrates a different facet of the dining experience, from refined artistry to honest, everyday cooking that captures Malaysia’s diverse food heritage.

The hallmark of global culinary distinction, a MICHELIN Star is reserved for establishments that have achieved mastery in both cuisine and service.
