As always, we have rounded up a line-up of some the best (and unique) mooncakes you can find in Kuala Lumpur. What’s special about the mooncakes from the list is that they range from traditional favourites to contemporary creations.

This year, the Mid-Autumn Festival will be celebrated on 25 September. Throughout the years, we have seen a constant push for bold and exciting flavours, with creativity taking centre stage. While classics like Pandan, Red Bean Paste, Lotus and Mixed Nuts are still popular options for many, hotels, restaurants and brands have also introduced a plethora of unique creations. And such is also the case with this year’s mooncake collections — ranging from the likes of Toffee Butterscotch to Bird’s Nest, Dragon Fruit and Pecan Nuts. The combinations are limitless and that, we love.

In addition to the mooncakes themselves, another key component to the Mid-Autumn Festival season is the gift box. The limited-edition packaging is a beautiful and attractive vessel — designed to be perfect for gifting and even, for decoration. Some are created in collaboration with popular fashion brands, some made with local elements as inspiration.

Hence, in the spirit of celebrating tradition while spotlighting the new, here’s a curated guide to the mooncakes you can find and purchase in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya this year. So, there you go — for this Mid-Autumn Festival 2026, browse and check out the festive treats ranging from one-of-a-kind combinations to unwavering favourites below.
