
MANILA, Philippines — Tensions in the Middle East will have no effect on US military support to the Philippines despite ithe US' ongoing war against Iran, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said on Tuesday.
“There's been no marked observed downscale in the support of our treaty ally or even other like-minded nations when it comes to West Philippine Sea activities especially MMCAs (Multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activities) even maybe forthcoming exercises,” Rear Admiral
“The MMCA recently conducted is a classic example of that. So there's been no marked dip in the support of our treaty ally,” Trinidad said. Trinidad cited recent MMCAs with other allies in the West Philippine Sea that showed US’ full commitment to the joint naval drills despite ongoing war with Iran.
US President Donald Trump pronounced that “Operation Epic Fury” could last up to five weeks but assured that the American military was prepared for extended strikes against Iran for up to five months.
Officials and analysts warned that certain US missile and air-defense interceptor inventories have been severely downed by relentless operations.
