
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac visited the family of the second Filipino seafarer who died in the attack on the M/T Sidr in the Strait of Hormuz.
“We visited and had the opportunity to meet with the family of the second seafarer who died in the attack on the M/T Sidr in the Strait of Hormuz,” Cacdac said in a Facebook post on Saturday.
He said he expressed his condolences and solidarity with the bereaved family and conveyed President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to provide full assistance and support to the seafarer’s wife and family.
The attack on the M/T Sidr occurred on Aug. 31, 2026 resulting in the deaths of two Filipino seafarers.
The DMW previously said the families of the two Filipino seafarers killed in the incident would receive government assistance and applicable benefits, with concerned agencies coordinating support for the bereaved families.
