Migrants arrive in Gosport as protesters gather at marina

• Around 120 migrants arrived in Gosport, Hampshire, after crossing the Channel from France in a dinghy on Sunday evening.
• The dinghy set off from near Normandy and was shadowed by French rescue vessels before being met by RNLI boats in English waters.
• Protesters gathered near Haslar Marina, leading Hampshire Police to deploy officers and impose conditions under the Public Order Act.
• Departures from as far west as Normandy are historically rare, but this marks the third such Channel crossing in the space of a month.
• Provisional figures show 19,451 people have made the Channel crossing this year, representing a 43 per cent decrease compared to last year.
