  • Trials for a new railcard validation scheme will begin later this year, aiming to save approximately £20 million annually by ensuring proper usage.
  • From 1 April 2026, refunds for unused tickets will be limited to before 23:59 on the day of validity, a change expected to save around £40 million each year by preventing fraud.
