KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 25 — Mimos Berhad will continue to spearhead innovation in sustainable energy to position Malaysia as a leader in green technology, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.

Science, Technology, and Innovation Deputy Minister Datuk Mohammad Yusof Apdal said the national research and development agency focuses on advancing solar panel technology, smart grid systems, and energy storage solutions to meet future energy needs.

At the same time, Mimos would enhance space technology to support the country’s growing space industry.

“Priority is given to satellite technology, space-based communications, and earth observation systems to bolster the nation’s capabilities in the space sector,” he said when winding up the debate on the Supply Bill (Budget 2025) at the committee stage for the ministry.

Additionally, Yusof said the agency will lead research in computing, communication, and security by delving into quantum technologies, including the development of quantum computers and detection systems, aimed at strengthening the nation’s data security and information systems.

Mimos remains committed to ensuring the development, adoption, and commercialisation of advanced, high-impact technologies to enhance economic competitiveness and societal progress.
