KOTA KINABALU: Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk James Ratib has commended the National Cultural Body for channelling part of its charity dinner proceeds to welfare homes supporting the disabled and senior citizens in the state.

The dinner, held here on Tuesday, allocated 20 per cent of funds raised to selected welfare homes, a move James described as a practical expression of social responsibility.

He said the involvement of cultural organisations in charitable work not only sustains heritage preservation but also delivers tangible benefits to local communities.

James added that his ministry remains committed to supporting non-governmental and cultural organisations that strengthen cultural heritage, expand community education and build the character of younger generations.

His speech was read by his political secretary, Justinus Jalang, who represented him at the event, and he expressed hope that similar initiatives would continue and be expanded for the long-term benefit of Sabahans.
