Minister urges Socso to review its policies

THE Social Security Organisation (Socso) must keep its policies and employee protection programmes abreast with current developments, especially considering risks such as climate change, technological developments, economic patterns and the job market, Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong said.

He delivered the message during a working visit to Menara Perkeso in Kuala Lumpur today.

“The world is expanding fast. If we are still stuck in our old environment, we will be left behind. It is time to double our efforts in the struggle to bring benefit to the people,” he said in a statement issued by Socso.

Also present during the visit was Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad.

Socso said the minister’s delegation, which arrived at 11am, attended a briefing by Socso Group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed on the company’s current issues, including the cyberattack on December 2.

Sim, who was deputy finance minister, was named human resources minister in the cabinet reshuffle announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Tuesday. – Bernama, December 15, 2023.
