Minister urges transport firms to register for SKDS fleet cards

Kota Kinabalu: Eligible goods and public land transport companies in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan have been urged to register immediately under the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) and obtain fleet cards ahead of the mandatory implementation date, which will be announced later.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said companies that fail to register would have to purchase diesel at the unsubsidised market rate once the fleet card requirement takes effect, adding that registration for the goods transport sector was expanded to Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan on May 4, 2026, while the public land transport sector has been covered since June 2024.

Speaking after a Petronas SmartPay Fleet Card handover ceremony at a petrol station in Kepayan on Monday, he said eligible companies could continue receiving diesel subsidies through the fleet card mechanism at RM2.15 per litre for the goods transport sector and RM1.88 per litre for the public land transport sector.

Armizan said applications are processed in two stages, beginning with registration through the MySubsidi Diesel portal followed by a fleet card application with a participating fuel provider, adding that the approval process has been simplified and can be completed in less than a day if all required documents are submitted.

As of June 14, 2026, he said 8,060 companies involving 29,631 vehicles had registered under the SKDS in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan, adding that the system enables more targeted subsidy distribution, strengthens monitoring and enforcement, and helps prevent leakages, smuggling and misuse of subsidised diesel.
