KUALA LUMPUR: All relevant ministries and agencies have been instructed to prioritise resolving the remaining Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) issues to expedite their execution, according to a press release from the Office of the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Sabah and Sarawak).
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Sabah and Sarawak) Datuk Mustapha Sakmud chaired the second technical committee meeting of the MA63 Implementation Action Council (MTPMA63) today, standing in for Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who is undergoing medical treatment.
The meeting reviewed current progress and evaluated strategic agendas including public service "Borneanisation" initiatives, bridging healthcare service gaps, and empowering the education sector in Sabah and Sarawak to prepare for the upcoming MTPMA63 meeting chaired by the Prime Minister this September.
Key developments recorded include raising the Sabah Special Grant under Article 112D of the Federal Constitution to RM1.5 billion for 2026, alongside handing over Bintulu Port's status to the Sarawak State Government on July 21, 2026.
Ongoing negotiations through technical committees have demonstrated that significant consensus can be achieved based on mutual trust and respect between federal and state authorities under the Madani Government.
