
Kota Kinabalu: The State Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry (KePKAS) is fully supporting the Conference on “Protecting Semporna’s Marine Environment from Plastic Pollution and Fish Bombing” which starts at 9am today (Dec 10) at Sipadan Hall 1, Level 4, Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC).
Its Minister Datuk Seri Christina Liew gave the assurance to Blu Hope Sabah during a courtesy call by a delegation led by its Chairman Simon Christopher to brief her on the conference, Monday.
AdvertisementThe German Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, together with Blu Hope Sabah and Stop Fish Bombing Malaysia (SFBMY), is organising the conference. Blue Hope Sabah is a non-governmental environmental organisation in Kota Kinabalu, dedicated to protecting the ocean and its biodiversity by helping to stop plastic pollution in Sabah.
“I wish the organisers success. We (KePKAS) will do our part to complement the role of the German Embassy towards achieving a plastic-neutral environment and protecting marine biodiversity,” Liew said.

In response, Liew said the outcome of the conference is crucial to decide on the next course of action.

Also present were KePKAS Senior Assistant Secretary Dr Dayang Siti Maryam Mohd Hanan, President of Earth Platform, Louis Dudley, from San Francisco, Blu Hope Sabah Education & Awareness Director Clare Raja, and Director of SFBMY Terence Lim.
