THE government is ramping up efforts to promote local products through an extensive e-commerce campaign under the Beli Barangan Malaysia (KBBM) initiative, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) announced.

The campaign adopts a whole-of-nation approach to stimulate the domestic economy, highlight the quality of Malaysian-made products, and foster patriotism by encouraging support for local goods.

KPDN has collaborated with e-commerce operators to enhance promotions, expand market reach, and drive online sales of Malaysian products. In line with this, TikTok Shop Malaysia has created a dedicated microsite to advertise and promote local brands.

Speaking at the launch of the TikTok Shop 11.11 Mega Sale Carnival 2025 at Pavilion Bukit Jalil, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, said: “This carnival, held for the first time in a physical format, features booths and exhibitions showcasing micro, small and medium enterprises as well as local influencers.

“Visitors can enjoy entertainment, meet-and-greet sessions, and online LIVE shows by TikTok Shop merchants.”

The three-day event, running from 7 to 9 November 2025, coincides with the online Mega Sale period from 1 to 11 November, offering benefits such as unlimited free shipping, up to 30 per cent voucher discounts, buy-one-get-one-free deals, and affordable essential goods.

Datuk Armizan added that KPDN’s agency, MyIPO, is working with TikTok to raise awareness of intellectual property rights and provide stronger protection for digital entrepreneurs. \

“Through this collaboration, MyIPO and TikTok will expand advocacy and education efforts on intellectual property, while reinforcing enforcement measures to safeguard IP rights in Malaysia’s rapidly growing digital environment,” he said.

In 2024, KBBM initiatives via e-commerce platforms generated RM1.99 billion in sales across 1,640,679 stock keeping units (SKUs), prompting KPDN to plan further expansion of the campaign online. - November 7, 2025
