Ministry lodges report against X user who said it was ‘time to wage war against the Indians’

THE Ministry of National Unity has lodged a report with the MCMC against an X user over racially and provocatively charged statements on social media.

"I hope that the individual involved is investigated and appropriate action is taken in accordance with Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

"The Ministry of National Unity is committed to ensuring that the harmony and unity of the Malaysian people are continuously preserved," Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said on X.

He said any form of statement or action that can undermine unity and incite hatred is completely unacceptable.

According to the post by user, Amir Ridhwaan, he said the time had come to “wage war against the keling” (a derogatory term for Indians) so that they would “realise their place.”

He called for a repeat of the May 13 incidents and insulted the Indian community, calling them “stupid” and accusing them of “building hundreds of illegal temples” despite making up only seven percent of the population.

"I would like to remind everyone to be more ethical in the use of social media and to avoid any actions that could provoke racial and religious tensions.

"Malaysia is a country with multiple races and cultures, and every citizen has the responsibility to maintain harmony and respect the differences between one another.

I also urge the people of Malaysia to collectively reject any form of extremism, provocation, and slander that can undermine the country's peace," stressed Aaron. – April 2, 2025
