Kota Kinabalu: The Ministry of Human Resources is taking extensive efforts to reduce dependency on foreign labour through Technical and Vocational Education and Training programmes.

Among efforts to be taken especially in Sabah is to ensure coordination between the Ministry and various agencies, said its Deputy Minister Datuk Mustapha Sakmud durkng an event here today.

There are currently 2.4million registered foreign workers across the country, 252,000 of whom are in Sabah.

At the same time, Sabah also has 900,000 unregistered foreign workers - the majority coming from the plantation sectors, he added.
