AN INDIVIDUAL was found charred after a Proton Satria Neo car caught fire near a hotel on Jalan Tanjung Datok Ayong Lanai, in Miri this morning.
In the incident at about 3.39 am, the Miri Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) team that rushed to the location found that the vehicle involved was 100 percent destroyed, before extinguishing operations were carried out.
A spokesperson for the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations Centre (PGO) said the team carried out the vehicle fire extinguishing operation using water from the FRT machinery tank.
“After the fire was completely extinguished, members found a victim who had been burned in the front seat of the vehicle.
“The gender and identity of the victim have not yet been determined,” he said in a statement.
Further investigations have been handed over to the police, including identifying the victim. - November 23, 2025
