
Kota Kinabalu: A 31-year-old woman was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here, Monday, with dishonestly misappropriating a total of RM46,000 cash belonging to a company.
Elma Azril pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to committing the offences here last month.
On the first count, Elma was accused of misappropriating RM19,000 belonging to a company for her own use at Public Bank in Inanam on Oct 29.
On the second count, she allegedly misappropriated RM27,000 for personal use at the same place on Oct 30.
Each charge under Section 403 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between six months and five years and whipping and liability of a fine on conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor DK Afiqah Alya Ak Johari @ Pg Johari applied for pre-trial case management to be fixed for serving documents.
The prosecution proposed bail at RM6,000 in two sureties and for the accused to report herself to the nearest police station.
Duty counsel Lim Ming Zoong @ Lawrence, representing Elma, requested a lower bail amount on the grounds that she is currently unemployed.
Lovely set Dec 12 for case management and to report to the investigating officer of the case once in two weeks until the disposal of the case.
Elma was released on a bail of RM1,500 in two sureties on each case.
