After maintaining his silence, Namewee, who was placed under remand to assist in the investigation of the murder of Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh, has released a new song this morning (25 November), using his mugshots tainted with bullet marks as the main image.

The song, titled “Misread Me”, is directed at a certain media and the social media users who gave him the death sentence, even when the case is still under investigation.

In the comment sections, Namewee said that he is directing the song to those who judged him before the court does.

“The matter is still under investigation, the reports are not even completed yet, and a certain media, as well as netizens, are giving me the death sentence. This song is for you!”

Misread me? Hate me? Go ahead

There’s no official music video for “Misread Me”, but Namewee released an official lyric video on his official social media accounts and YouTube channel. The lyrics are in 3 languages: Mandarin, English and Bahasa Melayu.

There’s a lot to decode in his latest single, but in general, Namewee said that he couldn’t be bothered by those who misunderstood him, adding that he will never change his attitude.

Here are some parts of the lyrics, which you can hear for yourself via this link.

“Was never meant to explain, was never part of your frame. All you see is my stain, no matter what I do, it’s still the same.”

“To you I’m just too shallow, ’cause you never paid for my pain, I was too innocent, until I found myself left alone under the rain, rumours fly for the fame, it’s all made for the publicity you aim.”

Namewee was released on police bail on 13 November, after nearly two weeks in police custody, as the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) couldn’t find sufficient evidence to link him to the murder.

The singer, however, is expected to be called by the police again for investigations.

Namewee was found with drugs on him in the hotel room where Iris died, and tested positive for 4 illegal substances.
