MANILA, Philippines — Filipino-American beauty queen Valerie Pawid West has resigned from her title as Miss Global Philippines following an internal review involving contractual and organizational obligations.
The announcement was made Thursday by ALV Pageant Circle, ending weeks of speculation among pageant fans about West's status within the organization.
In an official statement, ALV Pageant Circle said it had conducted an internal review and raised concerns regarding compliance matters involving West and her local director.
"ALV Pageant Circle confirms that, following an internal review of compliance matters relating to contractual and organizational obligations, Ms. Valerie Pawid West and her local director were duly notified of concerns requiring appropriate organizational action," the organization said.
According to the statement, West was informed of changes affecting her standing as a titleholder.
"Ms. West was informed of the resulting adjustment to her status as a crowned queen. Instead of proceeding under the revised organizational arrangement, she chose to voluntarily tender her resignation," it added.
The organization said it respects West's decision and will continue to follow its established policies and procedures.
"ALV Pageant Circle respects Ms. West's decision and extends its best wishes to her in her future endeavors. The organization will proceed in accordance with its rules, policies, and contractual arrangements, including the necessary coordination with all concerned parties," the statement read.
ALV Pageant Circle also announced that a new Miss Global Philippines 2026 representative will be named soon.
"The new official representative of Miss Global Philippines 2026 will be announced on June 20," it said.
The organization emphasized that its statement was intended solely to clarify the situation and not to target any individual.
"This statement is issued solely for purposes of clarification and should not be construed as a personal attack against any individual, including Ms. West or her local director. ALV Pageant Circle will refrain from making further public comments on internal matters out of respect for all parties concerned."
West, 23, is a Filipina-American biomedical engineer and advocate of Ifugao descent. She received the Miss Global Philippines title following the 2026 Miss World Philippines pageant in February.
