Missing fisherman found drowned after boat capsizes in Mersing reservoir

A 36-year-old man reported missing while fishing in a Mersing reservoir has been found drowned after a search and rescue operation.

MERSING: A man reported missing after a fishing boat capsized has been found drowned.

The body of Mohammad Putera Rizzurin Md Noh, 36, was discovered by a Water Rescue Team early this morning.

Mersing Fire and Rescue Station chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Abdul Muiz Mukhtar said the victim was found about six metres from where he went missing.

“The victim’s body was found about six metres from the location where he was reported missing and has been handed over to the police for further action,” he said.

The search operation involved personnel from the fire department, police, and the Malaysian Civil Defence Force.

It was also assisted by eight civilians and a witness.

The incident occurred yesterday when a boat carrying three men capsized at the Felda Nitar 2 water treatment plant reservoir.

Two other men, aged 29 and 36, survived the capsizing.
