Missing girl, 11, found dead in Worcestershire park as police launch investigation

An 11-year-old girl’s body has been found in a park in Worcestershire, with police treating the death as unexplained.

The girl was reported missing at approximately 11.20pm on Sunday, and she was later found dead in the park near the cricket ground in Elmley Castle, West Mercia Police said.

A force spokesperson stated: “An investigation has been launched after the body of an 11-year-old girl was found in Elmley Castle, Worcestershire.

“The girl was reported missing at around 11.20pm yesterday evening (Sunday 4 October) and was later found deceased in the park near the cricket ground.

“Her family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.”

West Mercia Police added: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding her death, which at this stage is being treated as unexplained.

“People living in Elmley Castle will see an increased police presence in the area while officers carry out their enquiries.”
