Kota Kinabalu: Police are still investigating the whereabouts of a 31-year-old Semporna man, Gan Ka Keat, who disappeared without a trace 11 days ago.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani said kidnapping is improbable as no ransom has been posted.
“We have looked into the suspect’s financials, to determine if he had fled because of money related issues but have found nothing impactful.
“We looked into his personal life, to see if he was going through a depressive episode and to learn what might have triggered it, but there was nothing.
“We looked into his place of work. The man was a manager for a jewellery store owned by his cousin. Apparently nothing out of the ordinary happened,” he told reporters.
Acryl said a witness last saw Gan hop on a car as a passenger the day he left his Kg Perigi home on March 20. The witness, however, could not recall the registration number.
The unwed man was last seen clad in a black t-shirt and shorts while wearing slippers and a cap. A missing persons report was lodged by family members two days later.
