PITAS: An elderly man who was reported missing in a farm near Kampung Tambilidon here since Monday was found safe by villagers on Tuesday.

Kota Marudu Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Hasbi Hajat, said that Adau Tangga, 83, was found safe in a rubber plantation area near his house by villagers at around 6.40pm.

Hasbi said that on Tuesday, the Fire Department launched the second day of the Search and Rescue operation involving the police, Rela, villagers and the Fire Department’s K9 Unit which had arrived from Kota Kinabalu.

He said the search, which began at 9.30 am, was divided into three sectors with each sector covering 10 acres using a “zigzag” method with three kilometres search radius for the victim.

Read more Hasbi said while the search operation was in progress the victim came out on his own and was found by villagers in the rubber plantation area just one kilometre away from the victim’s house.

The victim was then handed over to the police and in fine condition after the Fire Department team examined him. The search ended at 5pm.
