KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 — The search for a 63-year-old woman who was reported missing yesterday ended today after she was found dead in a drain near the Petra Jaya Health Clinic in Kuching, Sarawak.

Saadiah Abdul Hamid’s body was discovered by members of the public in the approximately three-metre-deep drain at about 9am, Harian Metro reported today.

A Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) operations centre spokesman said eight personnel from the Petra Jaya Fire and Rescue Station were sent to the scene to retrieve the body after receiving a distress call at 9.34am.

He said police informed the department that the woman had been reported missing by her son yesterday.

“The operation was fully completed at 10.47am and the victim was confirmed dead at the scene.

“The cause of the incident and death is still under investigation by police,” he said.
