Ludhiana MC officials said the focus is likely to be on city-specific concerns.

Ludhiana Central MLA Ashok Parashar and municipal corporation (MC) zonal commissioners Amanpreet Singh and Neeraj Jain conducted inspections on Thursday in various areas to check preparations ahead of monsoon.

The officials visited Dhoka Mohalla, Dharampura and Ranjit park, among other areas with the objective of checking arrangements to prevent waterlogging.

During the inspection, strict directions were issued for expediting work of establishing retaining walls around the Dharampura nullah. Establishing retaining walls is part of an ongoing project to cover the Dharampura nullah. It is aimed at stopping overflow of water into residential areas during the monsoon season.

Focus on low-lying areas

MLA Parashar said he has been working to bring relief to the residents living in low-lying areas around the Buddha Nullah.

He added the officials have been directed to speed up the work to establish retaining walls. If needed, more labour would be deployed at the site, the MLA added.
