BRITAIN’S new monarch King Charles was joined by other members of the royal family as they welcomed leaders from across the Commonwealth on Monday (March 13) at Buckingham Palace.
Among the Malaysian dignitaries to attend the event were Malaysian Medical Association president Dr Muruga Raj Rajathurai, Foreign Minister Senator Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir, Malaysian High commissioner in London Zakri Jaafar, and Commonwealth Foundation Chair of the Board of Governors Sudha Devi KR Vasudevan.
In a Facebook post, Muruga said: "It was an honour to be there representing Malaysia and the Commonwealth Medical Association."
Charles was accompanied by Queen Consort Camilla, Prince William, Princess Anne, among others at the palace.
Charles was first greeted by the Commonwealth Secretary General, Baroness Scotland, and the Prime Minister of Samoa Fiame Naomi Mata Afa, whose country will host next year’s Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
He then signed the Commonwealth Charter, a single document which outlines the 16 core values of the 'family of nations' that is the Commonwealth.
The previous monarch, Queen Elizabeth II signed it on Commonwealth Day 10 years ago.
