THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced Thursday the expansion of its “Yes to Ayos” discipline campaign in Pateros.
The initiative aims to involve environmental groups to widen the campaign’s reach in Metro Manila.
The drive's second rollout was held at Pateros Elementary School, where the MMDA formalized its partnership with Mother Earth Foundation and the EcoWaste Coalition.
MMDA Chairman Don Artes said the joint venture aims to bring the campaign beyond government-led activities and into communities through public engagement and environmental programs.
This includes the promotion of reusable and refill systems as alternatives to single-use plastics under the MMDA’s “4R’s” campaign — refuse; reduce; reuse; and recycle.
On the same occasion, the MMDA unveiled the “Lola Daisy Plina Eco TINGIndahan,” a refill station where residents may exchange recyclable materials for points that can be used to refill products such as rice and condiments.
MMDA Deputy Chairman Frisco San Juan Jr. said the campaign encourages residents to observe discipline in daily activities, including proper garbage disposal, compliance with traffic rules, and maintaining public spaces.
“Real change begins not only with large projects, but with the simple discipline that we practice every day — proper waste disposal, following traffic laws, respecting others, protecting the environment, and being responsible in public places,” San Juan said.
Pateros Mayor Gerald German expressed support for the campaign, while Barangay Sta. Ana officials cited cleanup drives, canal clearing, misting operations, and installation of pedestrian lane markings conducted in the area.
MMDA General Manager Nicolas Torre III later led local officials and partner organizations in a pledge of commitment for the campaign.
