(UPDATE) THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has warned motorists against scam emails claiming traffic violations under the No Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP), following reports of fraudulent messages circulating online.

Scam emails typically instruct recipients to settle supposed violations by clicking on a payment button, a method the MMDA does not use in its NCAP notifications, MMDA stated in an advisory posted Thursday evening.

The advisory clarified that official NCAP email notices are sent only from no-reply@mmda.gov.ph, while legitimate text message alerts are exclusively from the sender name MMDA_NCAP.

It added that real-time NCAP notifications do not contain payment links, do not allow replies, do not include contact numbers, and do not identify the registered vehicle owner.

Motorists were advised to avoid interacting with suspicious messages and to verify any alleged violations through official MMDA platforms, including mayhulika.mmda.gov.ph, or to report them via Hotline 136 or the agency’s verified social media accounts.

Earlier in the day, MMDA General Manager Undersecretary Nicolas Torre III exchanged ideas, plans, and possible project collaborations with San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora during a courtesy visit to the mayor’s office.

Torre said the discussions included plans on quick MMDA response to road crashes on major Metro Manila thoroughfares and measures focused on the regular removal of waste from waterways to help reduce flooding risks across the metropolis.

Zamora, for his part, said San Juan City’s no-street-pay-parking policy has helped ease traffic flow and reiterated, as president of the Metro Manila Council, that Metro Manila mayors remain open to closer coordination with the MMDA on projects and programs aimed at improving mobility and flood management in Metro Manila.
