MMEA detains fishing vessel for licence violations off Kunak

LAHAD DATU: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) detained an anchovy fishing vessel near Pulau Timbun Mata on Monday for breaching licence terms.

Lahad Datu Maritime Zone Director, Maritime Commander Dzulfikhar Ali, said the vessel, operated by a local skipper with four Filipino crew, was found fishing less than one nautical mile from shore and had failed to report a change of skipper.

The boat, crew, and catch were seized and brought to Lahad Datu Maritime jetty for further action.
