PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) has implemented a job rotation system for its officers and personnel, a practice already established within the agency to prevent leakages and integrity issues.

MMEA acting director-general Vice Admiral Maritime Datuk Saiful Lizan Ibrahim said that strict actions would also be taken internally if any officers or personnel are found negligent or lacking in integrity in performing their entrusted duties.

“In this regard, several measures have been taken, including implementing job rotation for high-risk positions and imposing disciplinary actions on any officers and personnel involved in such issues,” he said in a statement today.

The statement was issued in response to the government’s efforts, particularly from the Home Ministry (KDN), which stresses the need for more frequent job rotations within its agencies to prevent misconduct that could damage the ministry’s image.

Earlier, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail stated at a press conference that department heads need to implement continuous job rotations to prevent corruption and integrity violations within enforcement agencies from recurring.

Saiful Lizan added that the coast guard would tighten border control of national waters, given the ongoing reports of criminal activities in the area.

On the new Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA), which will commence on Dec 1, he said it is a new approach that is necessary to ensure that every public servant, especially at MMEA, remains competitive and provides the best service to the country and its citizens.
