Mo Gilligan says police mistook him for someone else and tailed him with ‘six cars and a helicopter’

Mo Gilligan said that he was once “tailed by six cars and a helicopter” after police mistook him for someone else.

Appearing on The Louis Theroux Podcast on Tuesday (4 August), the comedian recalled an incident he will “never forget”, which he likened to a scene out of Grand Theft Auto.

“When the helicopter came, it was weird because obviously I hadn't done anything, but I was like, ‘Ooh, wow, this is a little bit exciting’,” the 38-year-old told Louis Theroux.

Gilligan added that once he had been pulled over, officers told him they believed his vehicle was previously stolen, though this proved to be incorrect.

He added that some of the officers started to recognise him. “And once they knew, everyone just scattered.”
