NABAWAN: The Sabah Federal Treasury brought government services directly to the people of Kampung Pangaraan, a remote village here, through its Mobile Community Services programme.
Sabah Federal Financial Officer, Norali @ Ag Norali Ag Damit, said the village was selected because of the challenges faced by residents in accessing services due to poor road conditions and long travel distances.
“That is why we chose this village for the programme,” he said.
Twelve government departments participated, setting up booths to assist villagers with a range of needs. The initiative allowed residents to meet government officers face-to-face and receive services that are otherwise difficult to access.
The National Registration Department booth saw a constant stream of visitors, with many applying for new identity cards or replacing damaged ones. The Welfare Department also recorded high turnout.
The programme proved to be a significant help to the local community. Kampung Pangaraan was the 10th stop in a series of 12 planned locations under this year’s Mobile Community Services initiative. The next event is scheduled to take place in Pekan Pensiangan on October 11, with Sipitang as the final destination.
Village head Lindang Lambang expressed gratitude to the Sabah Federal Treasury for choosing their village, noting that the services provided were much needed and greatly appreciated by the residents.
The event also featured informational talks by participating departments, a lucky draw, and the distribution of gifts to villagers.
