Model Alicia Amin defiantly protests KL Fashion Week payment issue

MODEL and actress Alicia Amin took a bold step when she protested during the beginning of the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW), which took place at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

Alicia stood holding a banner that read: “All models this year to be paid within the day. Those still watching for Andrews's payment from previous years, come speak to me.”

During the protest, it appeared that KLFW organiser Andrew Tan met Alicia and said something to her. Security then arrived and ordered Alicia to leave.

Photos and videos of Alicia protesting have since gone viral on social media, including Twitter and TikTok.

Despite protesting during the day, Alicia was seen walking during the Afiq M fashion show, which took place at 7pm.

According to her, she has a good relationship with local fashion designers and would be honoured to be invited to do a fashion show for them.

"To clear up some confusion, fashion designers can choose models other than those chosen by KLFW.

"I have a good relationship with local fashion designers and for those who often invite me to walk in their fashion shows, I am very honoured.

“I have been a model for 12 years. I'm tired of all this. I fight alone because I don't want to risk other people's careers and reputations.

"I can protest and disagree with the organisers but at the same time, I also still support the fashion designers who have helped build my career because these two entities are different," she wrote in a statement which went up on her personal Instagram.

Previously, Getaran and The Vibes have reported on how models have not been compensated by Andrew after doing fashion shows for KLFW.
