Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed deep concern over the escalating security situation in West Asia and strongly condemned attacks on Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during a telephone conversation with the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah.

The two leaders exchanged views on the evolving situation in the region amid rising tensions, with Modi reiterating India’s call for de-escalation and stressing the need for dialogue and diplomacy for the earliest restoration of peace and stability.

According to an official statement, the Prime Minister conveyed India’s unequivocal support for Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and underscored the importance of preserving regional peace.

Modi also thanked the Kuwaiti leader for his personal attention towards ensuring the continued well-being and safety of the large Indian community living in the Gulf nation.

The conversation comes against the backdrop of heightened instability in West Asia, with India repeatedly advocating restraint and peaceful resolution of conflicts in the region.

India and Kuwait share close and historically warm ties, underpinned by strong energy cooperation and the presence of a sizable Indian diaspora in the country. The Prime Minister’s outreach to the Kuwaiti leadership reflects New Delhi’s continued engagement with key regional partners amid growing security concerns in West Asia.
