As of now, Hari Raya Aidilfitri is expected to fall on 21 March (Saturday). According to the Ministry of Education’s (MOE) academic calendar, students will enjoy an extended break for the celebrations.
Primary and secondary schools are divided into Group A and Group B based on their respective states:
- Group A: Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu
- Group B: Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, and the Federal Territories (Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan)

Additional festive holidays
According to the 2026 Academic Calendar shared on MOE’s official website, shared on the MOE’s official website, students will receive additional holidays to facilitate travel and preparations:
- Group A: Students will receive one additional holiday starting 19 March (Thursday), two days before Raya
- Group B: Students are entitled to two additional holidays on 19 March (Thursday) and 20 March (Friday)

Overlap with Term 1 break
Additionally, the Aidilfitri also coincides with the Term 1 school break, allowing students to enjoy a longer period of rest. For Group A, the term break lasts nine days from 20 to 28 March, while Group B will be on holiday from 21 to 29 March.
During every festive season, announcements of additional holidays are eagerly awaited by teachers, parents, and students, as they allow them to plan activities and make preparations in advance.
Please note that the official start date of Hari Raya Aidilfitri will be confirmed on the evening of Thursday, 19 March, following the national crescent moon sighting (rukyah).
