PARENTS in Malaysia can begin registering their children for Year One for the 2027 academic session from 15 February until 31 March, the Ministry of Education (KPM) confirmed today.
The registration applies to Malaysian citizens in two age cohorts: children aged six, born between 2 January and 31 December 2021, and children aged seven, born from 2 January 2020 to 1 January 2021.
Registrations can be submitted online via the Ministry’s Integrated System (MOEIS) at [https://idme.moe.gov.my](https://idme.moe.gov.my).
“This decision aligns with the government’s policy allowing six-year-old children (5+) to enter Year One voluntarily starting in 2027 without the need to undergo a screening test,” the ministry said in a statement today.
The announcement follows Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s confirmation that the previously proposed diagnostic screening test for early Year One admission will not be implemented.
The government had reviewed concerns that such tests could be psychologically harmful and discriminatory for children.
MOE described the initiative as a progressive measure to encourage the enrolment of six-year-old children, emphasising the importance of supporting their development and well-being while ensuring they are not left behind in their educational journey.
Parents and guardians are advised to register for an account on the idMe Identity Management System, update their personal information, and submit applications through MOEIS within the registration period to ensure a smooth enrolment process.
