THE government will begin distributing the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) Phase 2 payments March 24, 2025 (Monday), with a total allocation of RM1.7 billion, up from RM1.5 billion last year.
In Phase 2 of STR, nearly nine million recipients, including 60% of Malaysia's adult population, will receive cash assistance of up to RM650.
"Under the MADANI Government, we remain responsive to the needs of the majority in managing the burden of the cost of living, especially with Hari Raya Aidilfitri approaching.
"The increase in the STR and SARA allocation for 2025 by RM3 billion or 30% to RM13 billion is an effort to raise the standard of living for the people in a fair and inclusive manner," said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said in a statement released by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) today.
Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister added, existing recipients, as well as new recipients registered in the STR database, will receive the Phase 2 STR payment either via bank crediting or in cash through Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), depending on their eligibility category.
The Government's current approach is to keep the STR 2025 registration open throughout the year to allow more people to benefit from the assistance. If an individual's name does not appear in the STR database, they will need to apply to allow for the verification process to be completed based on their eligibility.
