The Finance Ministry has refuted claims of new BUDI95 subsidy applications, confirming the 200-litre monthly limit remains unchanged for most users.

PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Finance has dismissed as untrue and baseless recent claims that an additional application for the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) subsidy has been made available to the general public.

In a statement, the ministry clarified that while an additional application function existed during the scheme’s early implementation, it was never intended for personal use.

This function was designed solely for specific, verified operational cases such as e-hailing drivers and boat owners, subject to strict criteria.

“The additional application function in the BUDI95 portal has been misinterpreted as a means to freely apply for an increase in eligibility limits,” the ministry stated.

Following this misinterpretation, the application button has now been deactivated entirely.

The ministry confirmed that the BUDI95 eligibility limit of 200 litres per month remains firmly in force to ensure subsidies are targeted effectively and supply stability is maintained.

“This temporary measure is taken in light of ongoing global energy market pressures, which have increased subsidy costs and require more prudent management,” the statement explained.

Data indicates that the current 200-litre limit is sufficient for 90% of BUDI95 users, according to the ministry.

At the subsidised price of RM1.99 per litre, eligible users can purchase up to RM398 worth of RON95 monthly, with the government bearing an estimated RM500 in subsidy per recipient.

“The government will continue to protect the rakyat, strengthen enforcement to curb leakages, and closely monitor global energy markets while remaining ready to make necessary adjustments,” the MOF concluded.
