PAPAR: The Finance Ministry (MOF) holds responsibility for fuel pricing policies, including the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM), while the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) ensures petrol and diesel supplies remain sufficient.

KPDN Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the ministry also works to ensure subsidised petroleum products reach the groups they are meant for.

He explained that KPDN oversees licensing in the retail fuel supply sector through the Petroleum Development Act and the Scheduled Controlled Goods Retail Licence for petrol stations and oil companies.

Armizan said the ministry has received applications and appeals from industry players requesting a review of the APM rates, and discussions with associations are underway before recommendations are forwarded to the MOF.

He added that adjustments to APM rates will be important to sustain the operations of petrol stations and oil companies, while maintaining stable fuel supply for the public.
