Health Ministry allocates RM1.8 million to upgrade HSNI Batu Pahat facilities and RM3.4 million for four local health clinics to enhance services
BATU PAHAT: The Ministry of Health has approved a special allocation of RM1.8 million to upgrade facilities at Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital (HSNI).
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the funding aims to strengthen healthcare service delivery for residents in the Batu Pahat district.
He stated the allocation includes an additional RM800,000 on top of the original amount. The focus will be on upgrading the Visitor Centre and improving existing infrastructure and assets.
The funds will also cover the procurement of medical and non-medical equipment. Paving works at the hospital’s parking area are included to enhance comfort for patients and visitors.
“MOH’s main focus is to ensure that healthcare facilities at the grassroots level are continuously improved in line with current developments,” he said in a post on his official X account.
Dr Dzulkefly concluded a two-day working visit to Batu Pahat, which included an inspection of HSNI’s key facilities. He assessed the proposed site for the Day Treatment Unit, medical wards, the Emergency Department and the Radiology Department.
In addition, he announced RM3.421 million has been allocated to upgrade four health clinics in the district. The clinics are Parit Yaani, Seri Gading, Tongkang Pechah and Parit Raja.
This is to ensure a more equitable distribution of healthcare resources across the area.
Dr Dzulkefly said the country’s current stability enables continued investment in healthcare despite global challenges. He had visited the four health clinics before continuing to HSNI.
Established in 1894, HSNI currently operates with a capacity of 610 beds. It serves more than 500,000 residents, making it one of the busiest hospitals in Johor after Johor Bahru.
Services offered include emergency care, paediatrics, anaesthesiology, orthopaedics, and psychiatry. Also present during the minister’s visit were Johor Health and Environment Committee chairman Ling Tian Soon and local MPs.
