A woman was beaten half- dead by her domestic and robbed of cash, ornaments and valuables at a Kharar housing society on May 14 morning.
When the woman’s husband, Inam Saabir, returned home from the gym, he found his wife, Shabnam, in a pool of blood in the bathroom with the door bolted from the inside.
The accused, identified as Hira Lal Sahni, alias Harry, of Bihar, was hired just a few days ago.
Sabir, a resident of Shivalik City, Kharar, owns a clinic near Nijjar Chowk. After admitting his wife to a private hospital, he informed the police that five to six days ago, they had hired a man named Sahni to do household work. On May 14, at 6:30 am, he left the house for the gym as usual.
“My wife Shabnam was sleeping at home, and the servant, identified as Hira Lal, was working in the kitchen. When I returned from the gym at around 8:10 am, the servant was not in the house. My wife’s bedroom was locked from the inside, and I could hear my wife crying. I asked my wife to open the lock, but she said she was immobile with injuries and the door had to be broken. I then broke the bedroom door with the help of my neighbour and found my wife lying in a pool of blood in the bathroom, with blood splattered all over the bed, floor, and other parts of the bedroom. She had numerous bruises on her head and body."
The victim told her husband that Sahni had beaten her with a rolling pin and fled with cash, gold, and silver jewelry and a mobile phone.
Cops said the victim is unable to record a statement.
On the statement of Inam Sabir, a case of robbery, voluntarily causing hurt has been registered at City Kharar police station.
