Mohamad Hasan calls for clean campaign as police probe alleged election material sabotage

BARISAN Nasional (BN) Negeri Sembilan chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has urged supporters of all political parties to respect campaign materials and avoid acts of sabotage as campaigning for the state election continues.

Mohamad said he had received multiple reports from enforcement authorities regarding incidents involving the destruction of campaign materials across several areas in Negeri Sembilan.

"I have received many reports from the police and the Election Commission (EC) saying that it is not just here in Rantau, but in many areas across Negeri Sembilan, campaign materials, flags, posters and buntings have been affected.

"Not only those from the opposing side, but BN's materials have also been widely sabotaged," he said.

He was speaking at a programme held at the Bandar Ekar Polling District Centre (PDM) in Rantau last night.

Mohamad reminded all parties that campaign materials installed during the officially gazetted campaign period were protected and should not be interfered with by any individual.

"I urge and request that we do not interfere with the campaign materials of the other side, our opponents.

"Because during this gazetted period until polling day on August 1, these campaign materials are officially recognised. Do not touch them," he said.

Mohamad, who is also contesting the Rantau state seat for BN, urged his supporters to preserve peace and demonstrate a mature political culture throughout the campaign period.

"So, here in Rantau, let us protect our good name. This is Rantau, my area.

"I hope everyone will maintain our harmony. We practise a mature and positive democracy.

"Let us prove that BN is better than the other parties," he said.

Previously, Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said 14 investigation papers related to election offences had been opened as of yesterday.

The investigations include alleged incidents involving party flags being burned and campaign materials being damaged. - July 27, 2026
