Mohamed Salah is set to play for Liverpool again after the club allayed fears his Anfield career had been ended by the injury he suffered on Saturday.
The Egyptian came off against Crystal Palace with a suspected hamstring problem and underwent scans this week.
But Liverpool confirmed he only suffered a minor muscle injury and expect him to be fit again before the end of the season.
Salah has announced he will depart in the summer, after nine years at Liverpool and having established himself as one of the greatest players in their history.
But head coach Arne Slot said at the weekend he was unsure if Salah would be fit to feature again after he went off in the 3-1 win over Palace.
Now Liverpool have provided an update to increase optimism Salah will be able to say goodbye by playing in the final game against Brentford at Anfield on 24 May.
On the club’s official website they wrote: “Liverpool FC can confirm Mohamed Salah is expected to be available to play again before the end of this season.
“The No.11 was substituted during the second half of last Saturday’s Premier League win over Crystal Palace at Anfield. The issue that caused his withdrawal has now been confirmed as a minor muscle injury.
“It is, however, anticipated Salah will return to action ahead of 2025-26’s conclusion and his departure from the Reds this summer.”
Before then, Liverpool face Manchester United on Sunday, Chelsea the following Saturday and then Aston Villa, while it remains to be seen if Salah will be able to take part in any of those games.
The Egyptian has scored 257 goals for Liverpool, putting him behind only Ian Rush and Roger Hunt, including five in his last 10 games.
Liverpool, who still need points to qualify for next season’s Champions League, are waiting to discover if goalkeeper Alisson will be fit to return at Old Trafford, while they will definitely be without Hugo Ekitike, Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni and Wataru Endo this weekend.
