The US has seized an Iranian-flagged tanker, the M/V Touska, in the Gulf of Oman, officials have said.
Footage released by the US Central Command on Monday (20 April) appears to show Marines departing the USS Tripoli assault ship via helicopters before rappelling onto the Iranian vessel. The exact location and date of the footage have not been verified, but Reuters could not find any older version of the video posted online before Monday.
The Iranian military has accused the US of “armed piracy” and vowed a swift response.
It comes after Tehran reportedly rejected a second round of peace talks after Trump threatened to strike civilian infrastructure a second time.
