Monsoons are myths to UMNO oligarchs, who insist on elections in floods or heavy rain disregarding wellbeing of ordinary folks who might be compelled to vote in stormy weather.

While an MP from PKR labelled the top five UMNO leaders as 'oligarchs' for pushing for the 15th General Election (GE15) to be held this year Zahid Hamidi said that they should not be fooled by the Opposition, who are still trying to build weak myths and narratives about an election during Monsoons.
Zahid who seems to think that the Monsoon season is a myth took a swipe against his opponents, mostly at Pakatan Harapan members whom he alleged were stirring up unnecessary concerns among the public because he wants GE15 to be held during flooding season.
On the other hand, he reassured the public that an interim government would still have control over any form of emergency that might occur during the monsoon when a general election is held.
Zahid and his four "wise men" of UMNO appear to think that rejection of his idea of holding elections during the monsoon was just an attempt by the opposition to further delay the election because they are not prepared.
He referred to them as ‘enemies’ of BN indirectly hitting at PN that recently labelled the coalition as its main enemy in coming elections.

The government would still be in control to face any form of emergency that might occur during a Monsoon election.
According to Zahid, the Opposition would find it hard to showcase their role during the monsoon season and unable to compete on a level playing field partly because BN would be the interim ruling party after Parliament was dissolved.
He implied that BN would still be in the driver's seat thus leaving the opposition on the outside with little advantage to challenge BN.
So, why is Zahid so determined to go ahead with his mission of holding an election during the Monsoon?
According to Ilham Centre's executive director, Hisommudin Bakar, UMNO is led to believe that the low voter turnout, especially during monsoon, would help them reclaim the federal government lost in 2018.
Also, Hisommudin said it was the low voter turnout that helped Barisan Nasional (BN) win Johor and Malacca state polls.
BN is counting on repeating its successes in Melaka and Johor if they could persuade Ismail Sabri to dissolve Parliament and hold the next general election during a monsoon which will ensure victory for them because of the likelihood of low voter turnout nationwide.
Now it is becoming clearer as to why Zahid wants the GE soon, in floods or in heavy monsoon rain.
For the oligarchs, they are willing to ignore the plight of the rakyat who might suffer in nasty weather to go out to cast their votes as long as Zahid and his party won.
This prompted Seri Delima assemblyman Syerleena Abdul Rashid to urge voters to teach UMNO a lesson and make it more painful this time compared to what happened to them in the 2018 elections.
Syerleena was quoted reechoing Hisammudin's words that UMNO is pushing for a monsoon election to suppress voter turnout and increase their chances of victory.
So we the voters have to stop them. An election during a Monsoon is no "Monsoon Wedding". It's no fun being drenched in torrential rain or wading into knee-high flood waters just to let Zahid win.
We must deny Zahid his victory to teach UMNO to respect voters more.
Besides if we allowed UMNO cronies tainted with corruption to lord over us again and rule this land we are doomed.
