A distressing incident occurred in Wangsa Maju, where a man allegedly offered his own family member to be gang-raped by a friend and several other assailants.

The motive behind this horrific act stemmed from the man's overwhelming debt, which left him desperate for a solution. According to Wangsa Maju police chief Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah, an investigation uncovered that the victim's brother-in-law, aged 29, owed a substantial debt to one of the suspects. Regrettably, this suspect is still at large, impeding the progress of the investigation.

Recounting the events, the 26-year-old victim shared that prior to the incident, the man connected with her and requested that she refrained from locking the door. Tragically, this led to her being gang-raped while she was asleep and defenseless. The brother-in-law was apprehended at 9.30 pm on Saturday in front of a restaurant along Jalan Rampai Niaga 5, Taman Sri Rampai, Wangsa Maju.

He has been remanded for six days until September 8 to facilitate further investigation. The legal framework governing this case is Section 376 of the Penal Code, which deals with rape offenses. This incident follows another appalling incident that occurred on August 30, where a 27-year-old woman underwent a similar ordeal. She was assaulted by a group of five men while she was peacefully asleep, ultimately falling victim to gang rape at 3.30 am. The victim regained consciousness when one of the suspects, thought to be an acquaintance of her brother-in-law, covered her mouth, preventing her from raising alarm.

To further restrain her, the suspect bound her hands and gagged her with adhesive tape. In a harrowing turn of events, the assailants engaged in the atrocious act while filming the incident. Law enforcement swiftly responded to the report, initiating a thorough investigation into the matter. Authorities are now urging the public to come forward with any relevant information that could assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Those with information can contact Inspector Siti Fadzilah Ahmad Fisal, the designated investigating officer, at 017-6240252. Alternatively, they can reach out to the Police Hotline at 03-21159999 or visit the nearest police station. The gravity of these incidents underscores the importance of a cohesive effort between the authorities and the public in combating such abhorrent crimes.
