TAWAU: Some 60 people from the Tiong Hua community submitted their membership forms to Sri Tanjong Assemblyman Justin Wong Yung Bin to join Parti Warisan (Warisan), Friday.

Justin, formerly with peninsula-based DAP, said the domestic political mood has changed and people are turning to local political parties.

“We can see that Sarawak voters support local parties with collective wisdom,” he said.

He said its two years helming the State Government, Warisan successfully promoted multiracial and inclusive politics based on the interests of Sabahans.

He added that although Warisan is led by Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, a Muslim Bumiputera leader, “during its two-year governance, the State Government allocated huge funds to support various cultural festivals, including Chinese New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival Gala.” He urged the new members to play active roles in the party as well as contribute their talents and strength in order to become the backbone of the party at the grassroots level.
